reworked enamel

I have been reworking my “discarded” paintings as a means to recycle material. It’s been surprisingly fulfilling to not only cut down on waste but to approach my work in a new way of thinking about material and process.

I have removed most of the old enamel by hammering. The copper is malleable, the enamel is not, causing it to crack and chip away. The renewed work contains shapes and marks from the hammer blows and residue from the original enamel.

Spin 1 & 2 : sifted enamel and handmade enamel thread on copper on panel, 6 inch circle.
