THE PIECES
COLLAGE OF REWORKED ENAMEL
Enamel on copper collage mounted on wood panel, created from my “discarded” paintings. Sometimes when I work on a series of paintings one or two do not come out as I intended or do not fit within the series. I started this process to in order to recycle material. I have found it has been an interesting thought and design process and constructive exercise in reframing old ideas.
To recycle materials “discarded” paintings are cut on the bench shear into smaller rectangular pieces before additional enamel is added.
A clear “flux” coat of enamel is applied to the cut pieces and then set on top of the kiln to allow the adhesive to dry before firing.
Designing the finished reworked enamel pieces into a collage, planning where each piece will be placed.
